I stumbled upon the work of Marco Bucci recently, a 2d artist that seems to work professionally mostly in Photoshop, but has quite a bit of traditional work up on his portfolio too.
I simply love the way he captures texture, colour, and light in his work. His command of gesture, form, and proportion all give an immediate sense of character and atmosphere. It's all the more impressive when you flick through his personal projects and see how versatile his style is. While mostly cherubic, there are some intensely dark images too that are just as evocative.
