I prevaricated before posting this here, as strictly speaking, it has nothing to do with my career as an artist, but then, neither does the music, and does anyone really care? It does have an awful lot to do with who I am as a person, which is perhaps at least somewhat relevant.

I have been a student of philosophy for something like 9 years now, at the time of writing. Mostly I had no idea what I was doing at any point of that, but it was clear to me that there was at least a direction, and that was enough to be getting on with. It has since become a pillar of my life, and who I am as a person.

Life flowed along, inexorably, and my understanding grew as it did, about 5 years ago I was given the opportunity to start teaching others, which I've been doing ever since. They say in the Zen tradition, that the best way to learn is to teach - this is undoubtedly true.

I've learned so much, especially with having had the opportunity to test the ideas against real-world challenges and trauma, which invariably make up the texture of human experience, over a long enough timeframe. The philosophy that I am interested in is primarily concerned with the art of living, and of being human, which, to my mind, seems like the most scintillating topic imaginable.

I started writing a book of philosophy about a year ago or so, and when I finished it, I couldn't help but feel like it was unlikely to ever reach the people who I really wanted to reach. Do those people even read books anymore? Let alone books written by some unknown muppet calling himself a philosopher? It seemed unlikely... So, the idea evolved - why not publish each chapter as a video, and make it readily accessible for a more modern and younger audience?

It's resulted in a project I'm calling Philosoboss - a series of short videos each dealing with a practical philosophical subject. Philosoboss was a nickname some of my early students used to call me, which was mostly tongue-in-cheek, but I thought it was fun, so the name stuck.

I have released a bunch of content already, and will continue to release videos in the weeks, months, and years ahead. It will likely be an ongoing project, and who knows, maybe it will even do some good? It will certainly be satisfying to do though, and that's all that matters for now.

The channel is on YouTube at the link below, I hope you enjoy it.
